Medical Biomaterials Engineering is one of the most promising areas of biotechnology. The fields of Medical biomaterials engineering deal with the living organisms and their products based on the science principles and application-oriented engineering aspects. Medical Biomaterials engineering is an inherently multidisciplinary field encompassing cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, medicine, and pharmacology. Research is essentially divided into two sections: One is the From-Biotech in the search for bioactive substances from natural resources and living organisms. The other is the Into-Biotech in the development of biocompatible materials for functional and biomedical applications associated with bioprocess technologies. There are currently four professors in department; Professor Jin-Chul Kim (Chemical Engineering), Associate Professor Hyuk-Sang Yoo (Biological Sciences), Associate Professor Ju-Hee Ahn (Microbiology), and Assistant Professor Choong-Je Ma (Pharmacognosy).
